Welcome to the Walking Festival for 2026.

The Walking Festival has been going for more than a decade, with a one year break in the midst of the pandemic.  2024 was the first really wet year, but despite floods and water everywhere, everyone enjoyed themselves greatly (or at least they claimed to do!).  In contrast 2025 was just brilliant weather with just a bit of wind on the last day.  So, I have included a little taster of 2025 for those who are new to it.  So, come and enjoy the walks and the company.

WALKING FESTIVAL 2025.

The sun shone down on us for every day of our spring Walking Festival. We all sported a nice healthy tan at the end of it, even needing to get out the sun cream on occasions. The event hosted eleven walks over fourteen days, a sure way to get fit if you managed each one. The scenery dazzled us in the bright sunshine. The countryside was full of spring flowers like primroses, bluebells and gorse bushes in their golden glory.

There are always some walks that you particularly remember and one for me was the family walk along Pathhead Sands, watching youngsters skimming stones on the water, then a stroll through the woodland to Dysart Harbour. Enjoying the simple things in life once more.

The last walk was a blustery trek over The Binn and down into Burntisland where we celebrated the end of another successful festival with a lunch at The Sands Hotel.

Terms of Participation and Disclaimer.

We are committed to running the Walking Festival safely and appreciate your cooperation with this. However, participants take part in walks at their own risk and we cannot accept responsibility for any accident or injury. If you have a health condition that you believe may be relevant, please make the leaders aware of this prior to your walk.

The Walk Leader endeavours to ensure that the walk is enjoyable for participants and protects the environment. Should the Walk Leader have any concerns about any participant during the walk they may decide to ask the participant to leave the walk as long as it is reasonable to do so. The decision of the Walk Leader is final. This is especially important for safety on roads.

Dogs are allowed on festival walks (unless stated otherwise in the description) but must be under adequate control. Dogs cannot be taken into fields where cattle are grazed but often in spring, fields are free from cattle.  The Walk Leader will advise on best action if sheep are in the vicinity. Persons under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants are requested not to smoke on walks.

What to wear and bring

To enjoy the Festival in safety and in comfort, it is essential that you come equipped with suitable footwear, clothing and equipment (such as walking pole). Weather conditions can always change quickly, so we advise that you come prepared for sunshine and rain.

Other than for short walks, bring water and refreshments to suit your needs. Always have sweets, chocolate bar, fruit or other top up to suit your health and ability.
